A few years ago, I acquired this domain, the kingdom.io, based on my desire to build a virtual, global community for the followers of Jesus of Nazareth. At the time, the idea was the result of a custom social network I had been building, called “InFaithAndFellowship.com”, which is no longer under my stewardship.
I have always longed to participate in a single, online destination for the global Christian community. Sure, there are church-based social networks, which are targeted at allowing members of the same church to gather together, but that always felt too narrow in scope.
If the Bible is to be believed (which I do believe it is), then the Creator of Heaven and Earth is acting all across the world, calling all to respond to His grace through His only son, Jesus. Knowing this to be true, there are literally millions of stories to be told daily. My dream is that God be glorified through His mighty acts, that others may come to know the Way, the Truth, and the Life, and that this little blog might capture just a few glimpses of God’s works to encourage the saints and the sinners alike.
In the opening chapters of the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus launched into his public ministry with the bold declaration “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” (Matt. 4:17) I spend a lot of time thinking about this verse in the Bible. What does it mean to repent? What does it mean for the kingdom of heaven to be at hand?
I do not aim to answer these questions directly in this post, but simply to reflect on what led me to begin this blog in the first place. That and a slight nudge from a pastor at my church. I pray that this blog brings glory to Jesus, the king of kings, and that it might help in building up the body of Christ. (Eph. 4:12)
